Seborrhoeic dermatitis (seborrhoeic eczema) is a fairly common condition affecting infants, teenagers and adults. It is a chronic ailment involving the hairy scalp, face, chest, back, armpit pits and groin - regions with a high density of sebaceous glands. The disease may be associated with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection or autoimmune diseases. The prevalence rate in the general population is 1-3%.
