Father with child

A baby's skin is very delicate and sensitive, prone to irritation. Skin lesions can occur as a result of a number of factors: care products, the sun, air temperature, humidity or clothes worn. Find out what skin lesions in children are and what care they require.

Skin lesions that appear in a child can be the result not only of external factors, but also of genetic predisposition and infection.

Causes of skin lesionsin children

The most common cause of a baby rash is a burn or overheating. Skin spots can also result from:

  • eczema or atopic dermatitis,
  • abnormal sebaceous glands,
  • dermatophytosis,
  • allergic reaction to food (medicines),
  • viral infection,
  • infectious disease.

Important! Teething and touching the face with dirty hands can also be the cause of eczema.

The most common skin lesions

The most common skin lesions that occur in children are perspirations, pigmented lesions and urticaria.

Sweats - such lesions are caused by overheating. Sweats disappear spontaneously with appropriate care (regular bathing and taking care not to overheat the baby).

PROSAGES - are small white or yellow papules that occur in babies. They are caused by abnormal functioning of the sebaceous glands. They disappear when the infant is 3 months old.

NITRITES - may form without a cause (idopathic) or may be the result of an allergic reaction (e.g. to food). Urticaria is favoured by bacterial, viral and fungal infections.

Important! Both a child's skin allergy and fungal lesions require specialist intervention and pharmacological treatment.

Atopic dermatitis

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is an allergic condition - the result of an abnormal reaction of the immune system to allergens. The condition manifests itself as spots on the child's body, accompanied by persistent itching.

Important! Pharmacotherapy and daily skin care play a significant role in the treatment.

Dermocosmetics are recommended for children with atopic skin. The composition of these products is dermatologically tested and their formulation is similar to medicinal preparations.

Other skin diseases

Infection of the baby's skin and the formation of skin lesions can also be the result of infectious diseases: measles, chickenpox, rubella . In such cases, it is important to take care of the child's proper hygiene so that the lesions can heal.
