Almost 30% of Americans require psychiatric care. However, only about a third of them receive it. Part of the reason for this is due to patients believing that they can best manage on their own because treatment won't help them anyway, part is socially (peer pressure and stigma) and organisationally (lack of reimbursement for psychiatric treatment and shortage of specialists in this medical field)
