The results of one recent study indicate that people with a history of visceral disease have a higher risk of schizophrenia than those who have not experienced the condition. However, although the link between visceral disease and schizophrenia is clear (indicated by both epidemiological and genetic data), patients with visceral disease represent only a small percentage of those with schizophrenia.
