Volume of the amygdala and hippocampus in patients with BPAD

29-12-2003,
doctor Zofia Pelc

The results of this study suggest that the volume of the structures comprising the temporal lobe of the brain is significantly smaller in patients with bipolar affective disorder (BPAD) than in healthy subjects. This is particularly evident with regard to the amygdala, less so with regard to the hippocampus.
