Statistics show that almost 1% of school-age girls suffer from anorexia (mental anorexia nervosa). The highest incidence is recorded among those between the ages of 13 and 14 and 17 and 25. In contrast, bulimia (psychological gluttony) affects nearly 20% of the population aged 19-30. Anorexia affects mainly girls, about one in ten people affected by anorexia is a boy. Among those suffering from bulimia, men account for at most 20 %. Doctors raise the alarm - the age limits of the disease are widening - anorexia affects increasingly older people, while bulimia affects increasingly younger ones.
