Baby shampoo is one of the most important elements in proper hygiene and care of the scalp and hair. Parents often have the problem of which shampoo to choose for their little one, as there are many types of shampoo for children's hair on the market.

What to look out for?

Above all, the shampoo should bematched to the child's stage of life - a slightly different one should be chosen for a newborn and another for a child of several years. In the early stages (when the baby is born with very little hair), it is enough to wash the head with bath oil. When the hair is lush from the first days of life, it is worth reaching for a shampoo.

Important! A good shampoo for babies does two things: it cleans the scalp thoroughly and moisturises it properly.

When choosing shampoo for newborns and older children, pay particular attention to its composition. Choose only shampoos that do not contain SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate), a compound that produces foam. Its negative effect is to cause irritation and dryness of the skin, which is very sensitive and delicate in children.

Natural ingredients

A very good choice are natural shampoos for children, which often contain plant extracts in their composition (they cleanse the scalp without causing irritation), these are:

  • wheat,
  • angelica
  • white tea
  • soapwort
  • lime blossom.

It is important to remember that the fewer ingredients in a shampoo, the better. Particular attention should be paid to thepresence of plant extracts in the formulation, unrefined vegetable oils, and the absence of salts and sulphates.

What shampoo for older children?

Teenagers can use shampoos designed for adults - their skin is no longer as delicate as that of young children. It is worth choosing cosmetics that do not contain:

  • parabens
  • sLS compounds,
  • sLES compounds (i.e. Sodium Laureth Sulfate, which has an irritating effect on the eyes and skin surface),
  • silicone
  • artificial colours,
  • glycol.

Important! Hypoallergenic products are recommended for children with allergies.

Summary

Children should use natural cosmetics with a physiological pH. Popular types of head wash products for children are:

  • moisturising shampoo,
  • detangling shampoo,
  • hypoallergenic shampoo.
