Breasts are a woman's unique asset, which is why everyone wants them to be firm and even, but changes in a woman's breasts cannot be entirely influenced.

Breasts are made up of connective and fatty tissue, glands and milk ducts. Their structure and growth are regulated by the female hormones oestrogen. The hormones increase or decrease their activity throughout a woman's life.

When the concentration of oestrogens in the blood increases, this results in an enlargement of the breasts and changes in their shape. The period of most intensive development is puberty and it is especially after this period that changes in the shape of the breasts can be noticed.

Uneven breasts are a problem for many women, but not all women have breast asymmetry visible enough to worry about. Slight asymmetry of the breasts is not due to a medical condition, but is in most cases genetically determined and is only a cosmetic disadvantage.

It is important to remember that the shape of the breasts changes throughout life to a greater or lesser extent, all due to hormonal changes or weight loss. For example, during pregnancy, the breasts become larger and fuller, whereas during menopause or a weight-loss diet, the asymmetry may become more apparent due to a loss of elasticity and shrinking of the breasts.

Breast asymmetry does not interfere with daily function, but can only cause psychological discomfort for women who have an uneven bust shape. Unfortunately, there is no effective non-invasive method to combat breast asymmetry. Women with severe breast asymmetry may opt for breast surgery, but this method should be a last resort and should always be consulted with specialists.

The issue of post-operative complications and recovery time to full function must be thought through. Bust asymmetry can be effectively hidden by choosing the right bra.
