Review chest radiograph
The radiograph remains a cheap, simple and basic diagnostic examination and should be available in every centre. Some cardiac defects give a characteristic silhouette image of the heart, which, together with clinical data, allows a preliminary diagnosis to be established with high probability.
By means of radiological examination , we can assess the position, size and shape of the heart, the enlargement of its individual cavities, the position of the large vessels, as well as the skeletal system, the position of the viscera in the abdominal cavity and the vascular pattern of the lungs.
