Symptoms and courseFood intolerance is much more common in children than food allergy. After eating a particular food, the young patient experiences very unpleasant symptoms that make it difficult for him to sleep, rest and play. The first symptoms are usually visible in the child a few hours after eating the food, so parents do not initially know what caused them. If the situation persists, parents usually go with their child to a paediatrician or dermatologist. The symptoms of food intolerance can last for several hours or more.
A food intolerance may involve one particular product or whole food groups. In the latter case, it is much more difficult to determine which substances are responsible for the child's unwanted symptoms.

Ways of dealing with food intolerance in children
Children with food int olerance tolerate small amounts of the substance or product that leads to the intolerance without any consequences. If this dose is exceeded, the characteristic symptoms of the ailment appear. In the case of a food allergy, the child is unable to tolerate even a minimal amount of the product in question, as there is a strong activation of the immune system.
Thesymptoms of a food intolerance are an individual matter for each child. However, the most common symptoms are bloating, severe diarrhoea or constipation, headaches, itchy skin, skin changes, tearfulness, fatigue and also joint pains. If we want to help our baby, we should introduce a so-called elimination diet. Avoid the products or food ingredients that cause the baby's undesirable symptoms. In the beginning, it will be difficult to choose the products from which to prepare meals, but over time this will not cause any problems. If the diet we have introduced is not sufficient, you should go with your child to see the doctor.
