Milk teeth, also called temporary teeth, appear in a person around the age of 6 months and grow in by the age of 13 months. Keep in mind, however, that this is an individual matter for each person. These teeth then fall out in favour of the emerging permanent teeth. It is not true that milk teeth do not need to be cared for; their hygiene is very important.

Caring for milk teeth

The care of the baby's first teeth should take place before the first deciduous tooth appears in the mouth. It is very important to wipe the gums after each meal with a gauze pad soaked in lukewarm water. It is not advisable to use any additional products. This procedure will help remove any remaining food residues on the gums.

When the first tooth appears, it is necessary to buy a soft toothbrush worn on the finger and to brush gently and regularly. When there are more and more teeth, a normal toothbrush can be purchased (according to the age of the child). Initially, lukewarm water is sufficient for the baby's daily oral hygiene. Of course, this procedure should be repeated every day. The child becomes accustomed to brushing his or her teeth every day. The toothbrush should be brushed very thoroughly and changed quite often (especially when the child is ill).

It is also worth taking care of the child's proper diet. Until the first year of life, avoid giving sweets to the child. The child gets used to them very quickly and an excess of sweets also spoils the teeth. Remember also that after brushing the teeth in the evening, the child should only be given water to drink.

When to go to the doctor and treat them

There is no doubt that regular visits to the dentist play a very important role. The first visit to the dentist should take place when the child is six months old. After that, they should take place regularly. Although these are milk teeth, they should be cared for in the same way as permanent teeth.
