Regular under-eating helps us to lose weight without starving ourselves and has a beneficial effect on our health, which translates into the length of our lives.

During the fasting days, the number of calories consumed per day is reduced to 600 for men and by 500 for women. The effectiveness of this method was personally tested by Dr Mosley. After six weeks, he lost 6kg, lowered his blood glucose levels and reduced his body fat by 25%. According to him, in addition to the obvious weight loss effects, regular under-eating has health benefits - lowering cholesterol levels and even reducing the risk of Alzheimer's disease.

Short-term starvation turns out to be much more effective than typical long-term diets, as it significantly increases (up to 25%) the rate of metabolism, the process by which the compounds we supply are broken down.

A more efficient metabolism is linked to the fact that the body perceives a sudden lack of food as a stressful situation and produces the stress hormones adrenaline and noradrenaline, which increase the body's use of energy, thus forcing it to speed up the breakdown of substances that we supply to the body with food.

The decomposed products are used as fuel and are therefore not stored as fat. Of course, it is important not to compensate for periods of starvation with periods of binge eating, but to try to eat rationally.
