Channelopathies are genetically determined diseases that share certain common clinical features. The pathogenesis is related to the occurrence of mutations in genes encoding proteins that make up ion channels in the heart. These abnormalities translate into a disruption in the electrical conduction of the heart and the generation of normal contraction. The consequence of this situation is an increased risk of cardiac arrhythmias, including dangerous ventricular arrhythmias.
