Parents often come to the paediatrician concerned about the enlargement of the mammary glands in girls of a few months or so. The condition is usually discovered accidentally, while nursing the baby. The changes can be unilateral or bilateral. They are common, affecting approximately 10-15% of girls in Poland, much more common in the black race (up to 25%), and benign. They resolve spontaneously and do not require treatment.
