Syncope is one of the most common causes of visits to the paediatrician or GP. Reflex and orthostatic syncope are much more common than cardiogenic syncope, but it is the latter that poses the greatest risk. Cardiogenic syncope has its cause in abnormalities related to the heart, i.e. any disorder, defect or disease of the heart.
