Carthamus oil is obtained from safflower, an asteraceous plant native to the Middle East and India. It has a golden yellow colour, contains linoleic acid and is classified as an essential fatty acid of the n-6 family. In addition, it contains oleic acid, stearic acid, palmitic acid. It is a source of fat-soluble vitamins A, E, which exhibit antioxidant activity, neutralising free radicals.
