ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects, among other things, concentration and emotion regulation. Its symptoms often persist into adulthood as well. A growing body of research suggests that a well-balanced diet can support nervous system function and alleviate some symptoms, particularly through ingredients such as omega-3 fatty acids, B vitamins, magnesium, zinc or iron. Gut health also plays an important role, as the gut microbiota influences brain function and neurotransmitter levels. A diet based on the least processed products possible (e.g. fish, whole grains, vegetables, pickles) and limiting sugar, fast food and artificial additives is recommended.
