Dizziness is a disorder involving the illusion of circular movement of the environment or one's own body. Patients often describe it as unpleasant feelings of body movement or uncertainty in holding their body position - "as if I am about to fall to the ground", "everything around me is spinning", "I am losing ground". Additional symptoms accompanying dizziness may include nausea, vomiting and imbalance in the form of gait disturbances. Among neurological symptoms, dizziness is the second most common reason for consultation (after headaches) at the doctor's surgery.
