In many films, we can come across scenes where a person undergoing electroshock therapy is convulsing. Not surprisingly, electroshock is generally associated as a drastic method and one that is probably not performed today. However, the reality is different to that in the movies - patients undergoing electroshock therapy are anaesthetised, plus the safety of this therapeutic method means that it can even be used.... during pregnancy.
