An unhealthy diet, poor in whole-grain cereals, vegetables and fruit, and rich in fats of animal origin, adversely affects the proper functioning of the organism. Excessive consumption of fatty meats, butter, lard, offal, full-fat dairy products, fast food and sweets over a long period of time increases the chances of developing cardiovascular disease.
