Halitosis is the problem of an unpleasant odour from the mouth perceptible by the person affected as well as people in the surrounding area. It is usually caused by dental abnormalities in the form of plaque, decay, inflammation or abscesses in the mouth, nose or throat, but systemic factors and diseases are also involved.
