Let's first take a look at traditional razors. Undoubtedly, the advantage of using a classic razor is the accuracy and precision with which it reaches hard-to-reach areas. The handy blade can be easily manoeuvred to reach any spot on the face, removing hair right next to the skin rather than pulling it out. A traditional razor should be used wet (using foam, gel or shaving cream). This provides better moisture to the skin, so it does not cause irritation like an electric shaver. However, be sure to use precise movements, as improper use can cause skin cuts.

How do I stop the bleeding caused by a shaving cut?

Wash the cut with cold water and apply a cotton pad or a piece of tissue.
Apply an ice cube, pressing through the towel for about 2 minutes.
Stock up on witch hazel water extract from a pharmacy or herbal shop. Soak a handkerchief in it and press it to the jam. It may pinch a little, but it is an excellent astringent.
It is also a good idea to stock up on a special bleeding inhibitor in a stick - alum. Rub the tip on the cuts, rinse it off and wait for it to dry before closing it. It does not stain clothes, does not irritate the skin and is odourless.
You can replace the stick with powder to stop bleeding. Just sprinkle a little powder on the wound and it stops bleeding, a scab forms.

Electric shaver

Undoubtedly, the advantage of an electric shaver is that it can be used "dry", although there are shavers on the market that can be used with cosmetics and water. Other advantages of the shaver are speed, mobility and less risk of cuts. The downside is undoubtedly the difficulty of getting into all the nooks and crannies of the face with precision.

Foil or rotary shaver?

The market offers two types of electric sh aver - foil and rotary. So which is the most effective shaver and which one should you opt for? The foil shaver is the closest to a natural shave and is the simplest and most intuitive, similar to shaving with a traditional razor. You shave from top to bottom/bottom to top. In contrast, when shaving with a rotary shaver, the movements are less natural, making for a less close shave. We shave 'in circles' - you have to 'spin your wheels' hoping to do it accurately.

The foil shaver design allows you to manoeuvre the shaver more accurately around your face, for example where you have sideburns, whereas rotary shavers, by their design, don't give you a 'straight-line' shave.

How about a beard trimmer?

Recently, beard trimmers have also become very popular. These allow you to trim your beard, moustache and also get rid of hair in places such as the nose or ears. The undoubted advantage of a trimmer is that you can choose the right length so that you don't have to get rid of the beard completely.

The cosmetics market no longer offers only foams, gels or shaving creams.
