In recent years, there have been major advances in the treatment of cancer. In addition to the usual therapies such as chemotherapy or radiotherapy, oncology has been equipped with a therapy that affects the immune system - immunotherapy. The development of cancer is largely determined by the fact that it "escapes" the control of the immune system. The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) recognised the introduction of immunotherapy into cancer treatment as the greatest achievement of 2016.
