Can upbringing influence the occurrence of anxiety disorders?

Among the many causes of anxiety disorders, the influence of the immediate environment plays a significant role. The occurrence of this type of disorder can be the result of excessive demands placed on the child, as well as conditional love, dependent on the child's performance: "I don't love you because you have been naughty". A second case may be an upbringing by overprotective parents, which influences the occurrence of learned helplessness. In addition, anxiety disorders often occur in children whose childhood was particularly difficult because of pathologies in the family, such as alcoholism or sexual abuse. A constant sense of threat requires children to develop defence mechanisms such as avoiding others, hiding their true feelings and the need to constantly be on guard.
