Undoubtedly one of the most important diseases of the female organs is inflammation of the appendages (we include the ovaries and fallopian tubes), which in 70% occurs asymptomatically or with lower abdominal pain, usually associated with other complaints.

One in ten women suffers from appendicitis. If untreated, it can lead to infertility, which is particularly important for the highest risk group - young, sexually active women between 16 and 24 years of age. Behaviours conducive to inflammation of the appendages include lying in a wet swimming costume, wearing thin tights or short skirts in winter and wearing wet footwear.

Infection occurs via the ascending or descending route. The ascending route is through the vagina, when the external outlet of the cervical canal is left open. This happens in situations such as menstruation, childbirth, miscarriage and certain gynaecological procedures.

The descending route is through the blood, when bacteria move from, for example, teeth, tonsils, sinuses to the ovaries. This is why it is so important to treat the cold to the end and not allow chronic inflammation of other organs to occur.

The bacteria most frequently causing inflammation of the appendages are: streptococci, staphylococci, chlamydia and Escherichia coli, which penetrate the vagina during, for example, sex.

Tests to fully confirm the presence of inflammation of the appendages are: blood count with an elevated leukocyte count and Medical US vaginally.

Symptoms occurring during the course of the disease include sacral pain, lower abdominal pain of varying intensity, fever, pain during sexual intercourse, abnormal vaginal discharge (discharge), spotting between periods, frequent urination and flatulence. In the case of diagnosed inflammation, the following is recommended: lying in bed (soaking), abstaining from sexual intercourse, hot baths with salt, e.g. Bochnia salt. The basis of treatment is antibiotic therapy lasting approximately 2 weeks.
