People in a depressive state often do not want contact with other people because it seems to them that nothing good can happen to them in life anymore. Each of us is familiar with various disappointments in our personal or professional lives. Then we are usually sad, experience anxiety and withdraw from activities.

In a healthy person, the lowered mood quickly evens out and enables him or her to return to normal life. Often, however, the depressed mood and isolation from people persist for a longer period of time and the person loses the sense of pleasure and meaning in life. This may be accompanied by numerous physical symptoms - headaches, lack of appetite, sleep disturbances. There is no clear line between the 'ordinary' depression we all experience in life and true depression as a medical condition.

The criterion of the severity of the disorder and the duration of the symptoms helps to distinguish. Depression is a big problem in elderly people. Illnesses creep in, the body becomes infirm, the sick and lonely do not receive enough help from family, friends and society. The elderly are often isolated, start to live more slowly, skip meals, the smile on their faces fades. A small percentage of older people get the help they need; the rest, many times deprived of care and companionship, become depressed.

Asdepression develops more and more, it causes a more intense ageing process, a decline in health. However, when someone takes too much care of the elderly, they feel a loss of their freedom, a restriction in their own life. This causes depression. A lot of sadness is also caused by the death of a loved one, such a state can last for a few weeks, months - when it drags on for several years, a person can find it difficult to return to a normal life. It is important for him to have someone close to him during this period, whom he loves and feels loved.
