The alimony advance is a benefit intended primarily for children from single-parent families for whom the other parent does not pay alimony, even though it has been ordered. If a single-parent child does not receive the alimony due to him or her, the ineffectiveness of their enforcement is certified by a bailiff, and the income of the family in which the child is being brought, per capita, does not exceed PLN 583 net per month, one may apply for an alimony advance from the municipality.
