Heart

Any time is a good time to take care of our health. Once a year, we should give ourselves a periodic check-up and see what state our body is in. Is there anything wrong with us, or is there a disease lurking in us that we can treat at an early stage. Some chronic diseases may not give clear signals at the beginning, but have dangerous complications. For example, hypertension, which also has a drug-resistant form - if untreated - increases the risk of stroke, heart disease and kidney disease.

Another diagnostic value that should be known is the cholesterol level. A total cholesterol concentration of 190 mg/dl is considered normal. Also important is the cholesterol fraction - LDL, the norm in a healthy person is up to about 115 mg/dl. On the other hand, for the HDL fraction (the so-called good cholesterol), the level in a healthy woman should be no less than approx. 45 mg/dl and in a man no less than 40 mg/dl. Triglyceride levels: the norm is up to about 150mg/dl. It is best to consult a doctor for cholesterol results, who will accurately determine whether our tests in relation to our health condition are correct, and if not, will give the correct recommendations and medication. As a standard, a healthy person should have a cholesterol test once every three years; in individual cases, the doctor may order this diagnosis more frequently.

Another number that is important for health is the blood sugar level (glucose concentration). The test helps to diagnose undetected diabetes. Diabetes is diagnosed when the fasting blood glucose level is higher than 126 mg/dl. Glucose levels below 55 mg/dl indicate hypoglycaemia (hypoglycaemia). The interpretation of the measurements requires the consultation of a doctor, as the results of the test should be related to the health and age of the individual.

Blood sugar levels should be tested every year. Further tests, morphology (basic blood test) and ESR (helps to check if there is inflammation in the body) and urine test, should be carried out once a year. The results obtained from the diagnostics: blood pressure, cholesterol, sugar, morphology and ESR are health-relevant numbers from which we can assess our condition or detect possible diseases. Therefore, we should remember to update these measurements once a year. It is a small effort that can effectively ensure that the following year does not surprise us with unpleasant surprises.
