Rickettsioses are caused by rickettsiae - bacteria that multiply intracellularly. Humans are the indirect host of rickettsioses, as their direct hosts are ticks, lice and fleas. Infection occurs when the bacteria enter the bloodstream. Rickettsioses are extremely dangerous to health and life.
