Treatment of the common cold

When we catch a cold, it is best to rely on light, warm food and plenty of fluids. Soups, infusions of chamomile, lime or sage and supplements such as ginger, honey, garlic and onions work well. It is better to avoid spicy, hard and very hot foods, which can irritate the throat. A proper diet will not cure a cold, but it can ease the symptoms and help you recover faster. After an illness, it is a good idea to strengthen the body with a healthy and nutritious diet containing vegetables, fruit, whole grains, good sources of protein such as fish, eggs or legumes, and healthy vegetable fats.
