Trigeminal neuralgia is known as facial dura. The disease manifests itself with violent pains that are unbearable. The aetiology of primary palsy is not definitively explained. It is currently thought to be caused by a vascular-neural conflict involving compression of the trigeminal nerve by the superior cerebellar artery, or a branch of it, or less commonly the basilar artery.
