Winter skin care

In winter, the condition of the skin clearly deteriorates - it becomes dry (loses moisture), tends to scaly, red, rough and is more easily irritated (natural defence mechanisms are weakened, including the epidermal lipid shield). In addition, sub-zero temperatures lead to the breaking of blood vessels. In order to prevent and alleviate unpleasant symptoms, it is important to take proper care of the skin.

Frost (sudden temperature changes) and wind do the most damage to the skin. The warm air in rooms with central heating, including air conditioning, also does its part.

Since, at low temperatures, the glands begin the process of limited sweat production and too little sebum (sebum), resulting in a lack of protection by the so-called "hydrolipid mantle" - the skin must be supplied with the necessary "protective" raw materials.

Change to a "winter" cream

The basis of care should be a semi-oily or greasy cream - the lubrication will not only improve the elasticity of the skin, but also smooth and seal the lipid barrier.

Important! For oily skin, moisturising creams containing (e.g. allantoin, vitamins) should be used.

In the composition of creams used in winter, it is advisable to include ingredients characterised by the ability to bind water in skin cells and inhibit excessive water loss (e.g. glycerine, urea).

For skin prone to irritation, "winter" creams should contain products such as waxes and vegetable oils. It is also a good idea for them to contain natural soothing and moisturising ingredients (e.g. algae).

Important! For vascular skin, there are special creams with vasoconstricting ingredients (e.g. horse chestnut extract).

During the winter season, it is advisable to use cosmetic treatments to restore the skin's condition - here are some suggestions:

Iontophoresis with vitamin

This therapy involves the introduction of nutrients into the skin using a magnetic field. The effect of the treatment is to regenerate the skin and also to moisturise it (it regains its radiance and freshness).

Needle mesotherapy

This type of treatment delivers active, nourishing substances into the deep layers of the skin. Needle mesotherapy with platelet-rich plasma is particularly recommended.

The treatment involves making special punctures in the skin, through which nutritional substances (not only platelet-rich plasma, but also hyaluronic acid, vitamin cocktail, micronutrients, among others) are then introduced.

Important! Through the punctures, the production of collagen in the skin is stimulated. The treatment firms, nourishes and deeply moisturises - restoring elasticity to the skin.

Needle-free mesotherapy

Among other things, this treatment improves skin colour and nourishes - it is based on the use of ultrasound waves and an electrotherapeutic stimulus impulse in the therapy simultaneously. This allows nutrients to penetrate deeper into the skin and be gradually released.

Microdermabrasion

The therapy is very popular - it is a process of exfoliating dead skin from areas such as the face, neck and décolleté.

There are three types of microdermabrasion (each aimed at a different skin type):

  1. Diamond - dead epidermis is removed using a high-speed head that is covered with diamond crystals. The therapy results in stimulation, which leads to the formation of new full-fledged skin cells (they move to the surface replacing damaged cells).
  2. Alumina - this type of therapy uses a head covered with aluminium hydroxide crystals (in the process of being ejected under high pressure from the apparatus, they lead to abrasion of the epidermis by reaching deeper layers of the skin).
  3. Oxygen - called oxybrasion, is a treatment using a powerful stream of saline and oxygen (a simultaneous process of cleansing, moisturising and rejuvenating the skin). The treatment also strengthens fragile blood vessels.

Laser revitalisation

This type of treatment is designed to moisturise, nourish, oxygenise and also improve skin tone. After the specialist assesses the skin's condition, he or she then passes the laser tip over the areas of the skin to be treated.

Electrotherapy face-lift

The procedure involves electrostimulation during which a short pulse stimulates and exercises flaccid muscles. The treatment accelerates the metabolism, which enhances the removal of toxins and excess water - the lymphatic system is stimulated.

Important! The winter period is also a good time for other treatments aimed at improving the appearance of the skin and removing imperfections - less UVA and UVB radiation is a guarantee of no risk of post-treatment hyperpigmentation.

In addition, it is also advisable to carry out treatments that aim to shape the body and remove unwanted fatty tissue (by spring, the recovery period will be over).

Laser vascular closure

Many people are plagued by so-called "spider veins" - visible under the skin, which look like red, purple or blue threads.

In the case of closing dilated blood vessels on the face, neckline - the most effective method is laser. The procedure involves the application of a light pulse emitted by the laser, which closes the dilated capillary (the protein inside the vessel coagulates and the vessel is closed).

Important! The effect of the treatment is determined by the wavelength of the wave emitted by the laser, as well as how deep the vessels are located.

Fractional laser

If there is no big frost, you can be treated with the eCO2 Lutronik laser, which works on the principle of ablative photothermolysis. The therapy regenerates the skin and increases collagen production (improving skin texture, restoring smoothness and firmness).

Zimmer Z lipo

With the Zimmer Z lipo device, you can effectively get rid of unwanted fatty tissue (including from the abdomen).

Excess fat is removed by freezing the fat cells - suitably low temperatures (- 5 to -10 degrees C) are used. Unnecessary fat cells are frozen, which are then removed from the body through natural metabolic processes.

Massages

Relaxation treatments such as massages are also worthwhile - they have an effect on speeding up the metabolism and also enhance the absorption of active substances by the skin. The aromatic oils used during the process will have an impact on the condition of the skin.
