Historically, humanistic psychotherapy was supposed to be a completely new proposal, which was created in opposition to the currents used before. It was even referred to as the "third force in psychotherapy". It emphasised the subjectivity of the client and the appreciation of his or her resources. Currently, this current is not very popular in Poland and some of its assumptions have not stood the test of time. However, the very idea of valuing the resources of the person approaching the therapist seems interesting, and respect for the patient is recognised as a universal value in any therapeutic current.
