Chronic venous insufficiency is defined as the presence of symptoms of stasis in the venous system, resulting from backflow of blood in the veins or their obstruction. It most often manifests itself in the form of varicose veins. Age, gender, hereditary factors, pregnancy, obesity and sedentary work have an impact on the development of the condition. All these factors lead to venous blood stasis and overflow of the venous microcirculation.
