Glioblastoma multiforme is a primary neoplasm of the central nervous system (CNS) with a high degree of malignancy - both histologically and clinically. According to the World Health Organisation, it is assigned the highest (IV) malignancy grade. Tumours of this type account for 10-18% of all intracranial tumours. The annual incidence in Poland is 5 cases per 100,000 people.
