There are many articles in the literature about the increased risk of breast cancer precisely when using hormone replacement therapy. American researchers decided to investigate whether there is a link between hormone treatment and breast cancer risk in a group of patients undergoing hormone therapy who also have a BRCA1 gene mutation. Such patients usually undergo hormone therapy due to a history of prophylactic ovarian removal at a young age.

What conclusions were drawn? It turned out that the use of hormone therapy in postmenopausal patients with BRCA1 mutations did not increase the risk of breast cancer. Furthermore, the researchers demonstrated that in this group of patients, hormone therapy reduces this risk.
