Multiple studies have shown that vitamin D contributes to lowering the risk of certain cancers, mainly: colorectal, prostate and breast cancer. The anti-cancer effect of vitamin D, is closely related to the role it plays in various intracellular mechanisms relevant to cancer development, such as: regulating cell proliferation and apoptosis.

In addition, this vitamin enables calcium to function properly in the body, and this is important for the proper functioning of the immune system. Any well-functioning immune system provides a strong defence against the development of cancer cells.
