Type 1 diabetes is a disease with an underlying autoimmune disorder. However, what causes the organism to start attacking its own pancreatic cells - this is something that scientists have still not been able to find out conclusively. Therefore, research is still ongoing, which is not only directed at discovering the causes of type 1 diabetes, but also seeking new possibilities for the treatment and even prevention of this disease.
