Child with rash

Measles is a viral disease characterised by high fever, inflammation of the mucous membranes of the respiratory system and the conjunctiva, due to the virus inducing the disease process. In the next phase, characteristic spots appear, accompanied by a high temperature. The disease can be contracted three to five days before the rash appears and during the first three days of its duration. The only protection against the disease today is vaccination.
