Nasal bleeding is associated with blood (in full) leaking out of the vascular system. Few people know how to stop the flow of blood, which can be dangerous to our health and life. Nasal bleeding should not be ignored, especially if it is heavy and frequent, as it may indicate the existence of various abnormalities in our organism (from cold and fatigue to cancer).

What is a nosebleed, its causes and symptoms?

Nose bleeding is nothing more than the discharge of blood from the nasal cavity. Most often, it is a non-specific symptom that we underestimate. The collection of a very detailed history by the doctor plays a key role. We divide the causes that lead to nasal bleeding into:

1. General, among which various diseases are mentioned - leukaemia, disorders related to blood clotting, atherosclerosis, hormonal problems, hypertension or uremia. Also listed here are congenital defects in the coagulation system, liver failure, kidney disease, diabetes, vascular disease.
2. Local, which include those caused by the presence of a foreign body in the nostrils, forceful picking of the nose, nasal polyps, fractures, injuries within the nose, drying of the nasal mucosa (when staying in dry, steamy, air-conditioned rooms), diseases, abnormalities in the structure of the blood vessels and the nose itself. Infections of the nasal mucosa and malignant tumours are also mentioned. Bleeding can also occur in pregnant women.

It should be mentioned here that nose bleeds can also be caused by deficiencies of vitamins such as K, D and C. Many people also get nosebleeds when taking certain medications.
