Olanzapine (im, 2.5-10 mg, 1-3 times daily) given to patients with acute agitation in the course of schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder or dementia disorders, has a sedative effect. It has no more suppressive effect than haloperidol (7.5 mg) or lorazepam (2 mg).
