Pompe disease (glycosidosis II), is a very rare disease that leads to muscle weakness. Pompe disease sufferers have a very low level of one of the enzymes from birth, this is the so-called alpha-glucosidic acid GAA and interestingly the level of this enzyme increases with age and the development of the disease.
