Productive symptoms are otherwise known as productive or positive symptoms. They are, so to speak, something new produced by the psychosis. They occur in a variety of psychiatric disorders (e.g. schizophrenic disorders, psychotic depression, psychiatric disorders with an organic basis, drug or alcohol use disorders).
