Child's play

Diabetes is a very insidious disease that affects patients of all ages. Unfortunately, it can also attack children. Treating and understanding a child with diabetes can sometimes be very difficult. Researchers, therefore, have created an aid - the robot Robin.

Therobot Robin (full name: Robot Infant), was designed by two doctors: Lola Canamero and Matthew Lewis, and its task is to mimic the symptoms of diabetes in children between the ages of 7 and 12. This will certainly help them to understand the symptoms of the disease and help them to manage the condition. Robin behaves like a small child (plays, babbles, flosses, sings, walks around the flat), imitates different voices and, importantly, asks for food, cuddles, communicates when he is tired, sleepy or weak.

The robot Robin can also mimic all the symptoms characteristic of diabetes, so children learn to recognise them. The key point is that they have to think about, learn and remember what to do in such a situation. This teaches them how to cope with the disease.
