Malaria continues to threaten millions of people around the world. The disease is particularly dangerous for pregnant women and children. Around 400,000 people died from the disease last year alone. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has announced that one child under the age of five dies from malaria every two minutes. African children make up the largest proportion of victims. The fight against this mosquito-borne disease is inadequate, with half of the world's population at risk of infection.
