Following a few rules will not protect us 100% from cancer. But it can significantly reduce the likelihood of its occurrence.

1. Do not smoke

Cigarette smoke and the carcinogenic compounds it contains are responsible for 30% of cancer deaths. In addition to the obvious lung cancer, smoking can also result in the development of cancers such as bladder, kidney, stomach or throat cancer.

2. Maintain a healthy body weight

Obesity has been linked to oesophageal, pancreatic, rectal, kidney and breast cancer, among others. It is reported to account for 14% of cancer deaths and 3% of new cancer cases each year.

3. Play sports

According to research, regular exercise can reduce the likelihood of cancer by up to 50%. 150 minutes of exercise per week is essential!

5. Reduce alcohol consumption

6. Reduce stress

Stress has not been directly linked to the formation of cancer; however, it does have a direct effect on heart disease and a weakening of the body's immune system. Therefore, by acting indirectly, they can create favourable conditions for cancer to develop in the body.

Stress can also lead people to acquire unhealthy habits, such as smoking or alcohol abuse, which can easily be linked to the development of cancer.
