Breakfast

With the start of the holidays, another winter holiday season has begun. Many of us go on holiday with our children, for whom travelling for hours by train or car is a real ordeal. How can we make the journey more pleasant for our children?

I want to eat!

No matter how far you travel, always take provisions with you. Food in roadside bars is not always tasty and you may end up with food poisoning, for example. It is better to treat your guests to self-made sandwiches or light snacks. Try cereal-based snacks (e.g. rice cakes) - they are much healthier than high-fat sweets and also provide the body with valuable nutrients.

- When travelling, children like to have something to occupy them, especially something to 'munch' on - says Małgorzata Zdrojewska, specialist nutritionist. It is worth stocking up on small, easily digestible and nutritious snacks that are not only filling, but also occupying. While our child is busy emptying another packet of, for example, chocolate-covered rice wafers, we will be able to concentrate on the road in peace.

Remember that children are masters of getting dirty while eating. So don't forget paper towels or wet wipes with which you can wipe their hands, face and everything around them at any time.

Safety above all

It goes without saying that children should be transported in car seats appropriate to their height. This obligation is imposed on us by Polish law (children must be transported in child safety seats until they are 12 years old or 150 cm tall) and by every parent's common sense. Remember not to put any "loose" objects on the back of the car. They can act as "projectiles" during even light braking and also obstruct the windscreen.

If possible, try to hit the road first thing in the morning. The children are still tired and will not be able to play. Then don't forget a small blanket and a soft headrest to ensure that your child can sleep soundly during the first hours of the journey.
