Cardiogenic shock (CS) is one of the worst cardiovascular pathologies caused by inadequate blood flow (hypoperfusion) through the tissues. It most often occurs as a complication of fresh myocardial infarction and is one of the leading post-infarction causes of death. Approximately 40 - 60 % of patients (even those undergoing therapy) die within a month as a result of PE.
