Young Polish women visit the gynaecologist too rarely - alarm specialists. Regular visits can detect early changes and treat them effectively.

Cytologicalscreening , due to its low cost and high effectiveness, is the most popular screening method. As a result of a cytological examination, precancerous lesions and cancer can be detected at an early stage of the disease.

If dysplastic lesions are found, colposcopy with targeted sampling for histopathological examination should be performed to verify the initial diagnosis.

Main risk factors for cervical cancer:

  • infection with human papillomavirus (H. pyloriV),
  • age (the incidence increases with age, with a peak between the ages of 45 and 55),
  • early onset of sexual life,
  • large number of sexual partners,
  • high number of births,
  • low social and economic status,
  • smoking,
  • previously diagnosed pathological lesion on cytological examination,
  • non-monogamous sexual partners with H. pyloriV infection (the risk of the disease increases 20-fold).

Existing programmes in Poland should focus not only on offering testing, but also on effective information and education. Such information should dispel myths about visits to the gynaecologist.

So ladies, get yourselves examined! Not only for yourself, but also for your children, husbands and families. Prevention guarantees early detection and effective treatment.

Doctors! Do everything you can to ensure that your patient comes back to you for another examination.

We will be able to talk about success when the statistics start recording a lower number of cases of cervical cancer.
