Chemotherapy is usually a long process of treatment. It has a planned and longed-for end, but let's not forget the beginning either, which changes our lives and daily schedules so significantly.
How do you prepare?
Chemotherapy is a huge stress, both for the body and the psyche. In addition, the rule of thumb does not necessarily apply here: the further away the easier. It is not obvious that each subsequent cycle will be easier. Nevertheless, the first contact with chemotherapy certainly deserves special attention, as it is always a great unknown and the therapy itself an adversary that seems difficult to fight. The first step to successfully undergoing chemotherapy is a high degree of awareness of what this type of treatment is and what its purpose is. This is inextricably linked to the mental attitude towards the treatment.
For chemotherapy is not our enemy. Yes, it is true that it is a double-edged sword of sorts - it destroys cancer, but it also destroys healthy cells. It makes us feel really scabrous. It is important to remember, however, that this therapy is designed to kill the cancer cells, not ourselves. And the side effects... ? It seems that everything can be survived, as long as the goal is worth it.

Gathering information
Once we know why we need chemotherapy and treat it as our ally rather than our enemy, it is important to move on to the next step, which is to gather more information about the treatment envisaged for us. What cytostatics will we be receiving? What are their possible side effects? How can they be combated or prevented? At what intervals and every how many days will we receive chemotherapy? It is best to make a list of all the questions that concern us.
